A refreshing change

After the onslaught of erotica with bondage overtones where the woman unblinkingly signs away her sense of self, it's refreshing to read a story where the woman jumps happily into the relationship with her eyes open and her thinking cap on. Limits are discussed and respected, knots are tied, and fun is had by all! The best part? The guy isn't a jerk on a power trip. The relationship building between the two characters is enjoyable to watch because it is honest.

Ok, ok, I know you're waiting to hear about the "good parts." Well, "Bound" does not disappoint. The scenes are hot. My only complaint is that it ended too quickly. I was really enjoying watching Amelia and Raph learn about each other.

A DOUBLE ESPRESSO OF PIPING HOT EROTICA

I have a reading window shaped like an hour. Tis far too miserable to go outside. Spring, what spring? So I am hunkered down in a large empty refectory in a Canary Wharf corporate. It's modern in a pleasing way, with a view over a windswept London dock and of hundreds of people tooing and froing from the tube station.

So far, so good. You know how it is, finding time to ourselves, eye time. So many things get in the way of a good read.

My kindle tells me I am 93 percent into Lucy Pireel's BOUND. Excellent. And the read is excellent, too. A swift sip of moccha, decaf. Don't want to get toooo excited now, do we? Especially with a double shot of hot hot erotica to roll our socks up and down.

And then who should rock up, or rather sloth down, but the collegue from limbo land: Ivor Dull-But-Worthy (name changed to spare blushes).

I try to pretend i am not there but or that he is not there. But I am there and he is there. I try feigning narcolepsy but he is still there, still talking when I open a sly eye.

'Look,' says I, 'I don't mean to be rude but .." I pull my phone out, smiling. 'Mother's birthday .. Excuse me.' The ruse works. He leaves and I get Kindling.

The problem with reading a book we are very much into is that we read too fast. It is the same effect as when time speeds up when we are having a good time.

I started reading BOUND over my porridge. I only stopped because I had to shave and shower and get out of the house to go to work. I continued reading the moment I got on my train into London. I read more when I was on the tube from London Bridge to Canary Wharf. And I finished the read as soon as I got a moment to myself in the refectory.

Had I been able to I would have read BOUND in one nibble of a wonton nipple.

This tells me that the story engaged me and carried me with it. The language never got in the way. I did not pause to fret about this or that. The story simply bossed my eyes.

I won't give the plot away, as this is a lean novella. What I will say is that it progresses with urgency and mounting intensity.

If you don't like erotica perhaps BOUND is not for you. No problemo. If you do like erotica, you will love BOUND - a double-espresso of literary arousal. I loved it.

Amelia is a girl who sub who knows what she wants and how to get it. Her descriptions of her pleasure are mind-blowing. "Sex is the drug," they lyric goes. Amelia's sexual highs are acutely captured. There is a joy about all this.

But it is more complex than that. This is not plain vanilla sex. There are issues of sub and dom involved, with capital P-Pain playing a key role, with 'the pleasurable sting taking Amelia over the abyss into orgasm' more than once.

And if knots are your thing, you will relish the references to 'Challengers, Prisoner's Cuffs and Hightwaymen'. Personally, I will learn something from this Knot School novella.

The story is straightforward but the characters are not. Insights are to be had into how we are, or some of us are, those who have opportunity and inclination. Perhaps the characters are more alive than we are. Perhaps they do things we may only dream about. Or maybe I am leading a very sheltered life and need to wake up and smell the leather.

Did the story turn me on. Yes. It also made me laugh more than once, especially one dab where the rock star stud approves an improvment to his cellar because the ceiling is now high enough to accommodate the flight of a decent sized bull whip. Cracking stuff!

So I could not put the read down. Would I read more from Lucy Pireel? Yes, definitely. So there you have it. I couldn't stop reading and would read more.

Couldn't put it down!

From the start of this story, you could tell that Raphael was a Dominate. But I was unsure of if Amelia was a Submissive or not. As the story first progressed, you could see the sparks between Amelia and Raphael.

One thing that I did really enjoy about this book was the fact that Raphael and Amelia didn't just jump into bed together. You could watch their relationship start out as co-workers and then slowly progress to more. Another thing that I really enjoyed about this book is that for a brief time, you were able to see a Domme play with her sub. That is not something that you see a lot of in BDSM type writing.

Overall I would recommend this book to my friends!

About the Author

Darrel Hess is professor of geography at City College of San Francisco, where he served as chair of the Earth Sciences department from 1995-2009. He regularly teaches physical geography, economic geography, and human geography. Hess received his B.A. in geography from UC Berkeley and his M.A. in geography from UCLA. Before graduate school he served in the Peace Corps in Korea, and before teaching full-time he worked as a writer, photographer, and audiovisual producer.

Hess served as T.A. to Tom McKnight at UCLA. He began working with McKnight and Pearson as author of the text’s Study Guide starting in the Fourth Edition and as author for the Lab Manual starting in the Fifth Edition. He became a full time co-author of the Ninth Edition, and became sole author of the Tenth Edition. Hess has contributed to the development of the Geoscience Animation Library and has partnered with many geoscience teachers and writers in the development of the CA edition.

Dennis Tasa has been a renowned illustrator of many bestselling geoscience textbooks since 1978,� including the physical geology, Earth science, and meteorology franchises by Tarbuck and Lutgens. This textbook is FABULOUS!!!

I love this textbook! I just wish it came sooner, but it is overall FABULOUS!!! It's just as easy to read and understand as the study guide and the book came in SUPERB condition! What really impressed me about this book is that it came with the unused laboratory code. The process of signing into the online geography program was very easy and FAST! The answers to the questions on the quizzes and tests are somewhat easy to find in the book and I would HIGHLY recommend this textbook to every college student in the world who is taking a geography course!!!

I teach physical geography at a community college. This text was recommended to me by my department chair. After using it this semester, I've realized it's not that great of a book. Even many of my best students did not like the text.

The writing is very dry and the order of the materials within a chapter don't flow well. Also, his explanations are not the best for some of the landscape features and processes. I very much prefer Geosystems by Christopherson. The explanations in that text are much clearer to understand and less dry, writing-wise. This may have been a great text when McKnight was alive and writing it, but today it just does not do a good job. There are better resources out there for physical geography texts.

The only reason I gave this book 2 stars instead of 1 was because of the images. The images are top-notch and do a great job of showing concepts.

This Book is OK, but...

I bought this as a small part of my boyfriend's Christmas...he has an odd sense of humor and I love that about him. Anyway, some of the jokes were terribly lame and there are a lot of grammatical errors. He loved the idea of the book, but it was a little disappointing.

Shock humour to the max

A simple jokebook where dead babies are the subject matter, they are constructed to shock people, a form if humour that will obviously give mixed results, but to any fans of the genre it is excellent. To any who are not fans of the genre, the message is clear: this is not the book for you, and I don't know why you would be searching for and reviewing said book. It does its job and does it well.

I haven't even bought this book yet, but will solely because of the horrified reaction from people who think they have a right to decide what is funny to other people or what other people should be allowed to buy. Additionally, I'm tired of hearing the same old jokes and a couple other reviewers said it was hilarious. I'm purchasing this for me and maybe even for some friends who have a broad sense of humor and realize a JOKE is just a JOKE. If you think this humor is offensive, don't buy it! Wow, what an easy solution.
