Good story but lacks substance
By bbc4katz
First, I disagree with some of the tags given this story. This is not science fiction, about rent boys or a teacher-student relationship, nor does it deal with cyperpunk. As described in Product Review, it is a sweet story about two 17 year olds who are drawn to each other, each of whom is supported not only by the other but also by understanding families. Certainly not the norm when reading in this genre, where many are angst-driven and boys are often thrown out or physically abused for their "bent." It reveals the all-too often highs and lows of being so completely sotted with another that all else disappears. Aside from very dark (bold), large text that is disconcerting to begin with but soon dissolves as an irritant, and some spacing and punctuation glitches, the story is easy to read, albeit at times superficial. Other than repeatedly saying "I'm so in love with you," there is little detail about their love-making. At their age, much seems testosterone-driven. A big deal is not made of their decision to marry once they turn 18, and the source of money for long weekends abroad and a two-week honeymoon plus purchasing furniture, etc. for their new loft is never explained, although the author alludes to their each needing jobs. But no details follow on that. The cover photo is misleading because skateboards do not enter the picture. Overall a very nice read but needed follow through on a variety of subjects.

Incredibly Juvenile
By Joelle
This book gets one star for not making the couple being gay a huge drama, which is fortunately the experience of more and more same-sex couples nowadays. Another star is added just because they're British, which adds some charm to us Americans. Sadly, I cannot add any more stars, because the story itself reads like it was written by a 15-year-old girl. This couple is constantly having major emotional moments for no apparent reason -- on any given day, they can be expected to weep while telling the other "I love you more than life itself" for the thirtieth time that morning. It's the perfect example of "telling instead of showing" -- it's hard to understand why they're so sure they're soul mates, although to be fair their soppiness alone would be hard for anyone else to take. They seem like very young 17-year-olds, who are sure that this love will last forever, and if it were the real world, they'd have broken up two months later. Their decision to marry seems less romantic than foolhardy, and their righteous indignation when their parents don't immediately thrill to the idea just shows how immature both boys really are. I couldn't finish the book in the end -- it had just become too silly.

almost perfect
By Kevin E. Davis
I was going to give this four stars but the ending convinced me to give it five. This was a wonderful teen romance. It had me crying tears of joy and heartbreak. I enjoyed all the emotion and the characters.
The setting is England and there was a fair bit of slang. The only thing I had to look up was "saga catalogue," which is for people over 50. (This was teasingly said to a dad.)
Two 17 year olds fall hard for each other and have a whirlwind romance and adventure involving family and friends. Saying more would spoil it.
What I didn't like was the first half which I thought dragged on too long. It was mostly "I love you so much." "Me too."
Also the spelling, capitalization, and apostrophes were atrocious. 'Breathe' and 'led' were never spelled correctly and 'its' was wrong half the time. Compound words were often split (e.g., 'back ground') and two words were wrongly joined once or twice ("he couldn't say anymore"). I especially didn't like the style of "'Oh!' He said." That's not a complete sentence. I would write it as "'Oh!' he said."
With a good proofreader this story would be spectacular.
