Rick Iekel - husband, father of four, grandfather of ten, is retired and writing. During a 35-year career in aviation, writing was a pastime for quiet Sunday afternoons and peaceful summer vacations. Now, with a folder full of literary starts, he ponders the possibilities. LIFE LINES, A Selection of Poetry Written by Helen Corrigan Iekel, his first effort, honors the poetic efforts of his mother. Raised on a farm in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, he now resides with his wife in Rochester, New York.

A Mother's heart

The poignant pen of the poetess leaves the reader with both joy and sadness. In particular "Song for Robert" touches the heart of every mother, those grieving and those who fear they might.
Rick Ikel offers glimpses of the woman who shared her life with him. The tragedy is her pen will write no more, but thankfully her son allowed us to enjoy her work. This is a must read for everyone who ever had a mother.

Autobiographical sketches set to poetry. I like that it helps me pause and appreciate the ordinary things of life. I'd recommend reading this a little at a time.
